Falling in Love with Fitness

We have embraced the fact that we are “fitness obsessed.” In this case, we believe obsession can be a good things. We have learned to prioritize moving in ways that make us feel empowered, eating foods that make us feel good, and resting in a way that fuels us.

Much like any journey, it took us a while to get to this place. We are always looking for new ways to move, switching up our routines and diets to keep building and get stronger, and having fun. Kind of sounds like a relationship, right?!

Where are you on your fitness journey? Are you looking to fall in love? Stay dedicated? Needing to refresh your motivation? Here are some of our whys and tips that helped us get to L-O-V-E:

  1. Living a healthy lifestyle is an aspect we can control. Life is crazy. That’s it. That’s the sentence, ya’ll. There are so many factors that we cannot control and new challenges pop up constantly. There’s also many rewards and reasons to laugh, smile and have joy in each day. Regardless to what is thrown our way, we can generally take control of the foods we eat, the classes we take and the type of experience we want to have at the gym or in a fitness studio.

  2. Exercise helps ease anxiety. Engaging in exercise helps divert you from the very thing you are anxious about. Moving your body decreases muscle tension and is shown to build up resources that bolster resilience against strong emotions. We both deal with anxiety. Lacing up our shoes for a class or run helps clear our minds and allows us to refocus and zero in on the root cause of our anxious feelings.

  3. Our crew is strong! We are both chatty Cathys, social butterflys, busy bees! We know this is not true for everyone. However the midst of finding a love for fitness, we built a strong tribe. In fact, one of the ways we bonded and built such a strong friendship was through our fitness journey. The friendships we’ve built over time has trickeled out of the gym and turned into mentoring sessions, dinner dates, book clubs, travel buddies and more.

  4. It’s the way we serve. What fills you up will be different from person to person. As our fitness journey turned into physical transformations that others could see, we began to get more and more questions from friends, family and strangers about how they to could eat healthier, lose weight, or just find something new to enjoy. Helping others has truly brought more warmth into our hearts. That is why each of us chose to pursue fitness certifications and align with organizations that establish healthy habits early in children.

  5. It’s fun! One rule we set for ourselves early on was to not do anything we don’t enjoy. Yes, there are times that we push ourselves out of our comfort zone for the sake of building up to a goal we deem as a reward. We believe wholeheartedly in not forcing ourselves to do anything we don’t like and mixing it up. This way, there is always a good time or adventure ahead of us.
