#FitGirlMagic: Meme Scott

We are so excited to kick off this year’s first #FitGirlMagic with an amazing boxing instructor, Meme Scott! Meme is a coach at one of our favorite studios, Prevail Boxing. We’ve taken a few of her classes and loves how she kicks butt with a smile. Meme has an amazing ability to motivate through even the toughest workouts. When we saw her hit a two-step as the beat dropped, we knew she was our kind of girl! Check out her story below!

When and how did you fall in love with the fitness industry?

When I started at Prevail, in April 2014, I was just looking for a place to work out. I didn’t know it would completely change my life for the better. It quickly became my happy place. I was a client for a year before I was hired on the team. In December 2017,  I decided I wanted to motivate people the way I was motivated and devoted the next year to becoming a coach.

Describe your personal brand in three words.

Patience, Progress, and Positivity

What motivates you most to live a healthy lifestyle?

I want to maintain my physical and emotional health to guarantee a long prosperous life for myself, and so that I can inspire others around me to do the same.

What mission do you promote for women in fitness?

Rather than aiming for a certain numerical body weight, aim to be physically strong and fit. How you feel when you look in the mirror is what’s important, not a number on a scale.

What is your favorite workout?

Fitness boxing, of course. It’s a complete full body workout and you’re learning a real skill set.

List three songs that currently gets you pumped for a workout.

Apeshit by The Carters, Lil Bebe by Dani Leigh, I Like It by Cardi B, Kelly by Kelly Rowland, and Icon by Jaden Smith (I create playlist everyday, so I have a lot. LoL)

What is your biggest fitness struggle?

I’ve notice, for my body, I had to work extra hard (and still working) to maintain my core stamina. I don’t want a rock hard 6 pack, I strive for a strong, solid and toned core.

What’s your favorite cheat meal?

My favorite cheat meal is a Bacon Avocado Cheeseburger + waffle fries.

That totally sounds worth the cheat, so what's your favorite healthy meal?

Salmon, spinach, and cauliflower mash.

What piece of fitness advice do you find yourself repeating to your clients?

Only do what you can, and then improve upon that. Never compare yourself.

When you are not picking up weights, you are...?

I enjoy reading, binge watching old episodes of New Girl or Law & Order SVU, and playing paintball

Why is it important to have diversity in the fitness industry?

Diversity, in the fitness industry, shows that all body types can achieve their fitness goals. Maintaining inclusion is crucial in any industry.

What is your personal mantra?

Just don’t quit. Push a little harder than the last time. You will surprise yourself.

You are a coach at one of the hottest studios in LA, what advice would you give to someone who is looking to get into the industry or wants to work for a large brand?

Put in the work to build yourself first. Then, the brand will come looking for you.
