Fitness Fashion Experiment: 90’s Style
Most of us can credit our moms for having an impact on our personal style. I definitely grew up entranced with my mom’s style and how graceful she pulled off….everything! One of my favorite things to do is look at old pictures of her and clock her style. The definition of fabulous, flawless, and black girl magic.
One thing my mom would always say when it came to fashion is, “Everything that was old is new again.” She would remark that styles repeated themselves every 20 years. How right she was. The styles we saw on our favorite celebs in the 90s are back! Neon and metallics, fanny packs, platform sandals, mini backpacks….you either grew up rocking these trends walking down the hallway or seeing them rocked by your favorite member of the hottest girl groups.
Another trend that is not just making a comeback, but taking over the fitness racks, is the bike short.
I recently rocked a pair to a SoulCycle class. Bike shorts…spin bike… made perfect sense to me, ya’ll. I headed to Soul’s Wynn Las Vegas studio in an outfit from the Maddie Ziegler x Fabletics collab. This set included the Mila Pocket Short. First of all, if you follow me on Instagram, you have seen me rave about Fabletic’s Mila pant. These pants are high-waist, stretch to fit all my curves, and moisture-wicking. They also have mesh panels on the side for a little sex appeal and deep pockets (a trainer’s dream). I felt fully covered while on the bike and pairing the outfit with a boxy tee and neon Jana Seamless Sports Bra just upped the fun factor. The only negative, the pants did show sweat. This can either be an indication of a great workout, or a badge of honor you absolutely don’t care to share.
If you are looking to bring a some summer fun and style to your gym clothes, I would definitely recommend dipping back into the 90s and trying this trend. What do you think? Biker shorts….hot or hmmm?? Drop us a line and let us know. Or, check out our story on Instagram to cast your vote.
