The Studio @ Beacon: A Fun Cardio Blast
I’m in the middle of bikini prep, and one of my daily tasks is a cardio workout. When traveling to upstate New York for a family trip, I knew I wanted to find a place to burn some calories. If you’ve been reading for a while, you know that boxing is one of our favorite workouts, so you can only imagine my excitement when I found The Studio @ Beacon.
The Studio @ Beacon is a newer studio, opened in January 2018, and has three main workouts: Bags (Boxing Only), Bikes, (Cycling Only), and Bikes and Bags, (a combination between the two). Although the boxing bags and cycling bikes are in the same room, there is plenty of space to do the workouts. This gym also has a great smoothie bar for a post-workout treat.
Class Descriptions
Bags
A 45-minute full-body workout features a combination of boxing and mitt work and strength training. On the bags, you work on power and speed. On the floor, you do intervals that include burpees, planks, mountain climbers, jumping jacks and leg raises.
Bikes
A 45-minute ride is ideal for all skill levels. With the use of the bike's console, your ride might include timed sprints, partner work, and endurance-boosting climbs. With the use of fun and energizing music, our motivating instructors will have you smiling, sweating and working to your body's maximum benefit.
Bikes & Bags
Our 50-minute signature class is ideal for all skill levels that integrates cycling and boxing for an amazing full body work-out. You'll begin with 30 minutes of cardio cycling that will heat up your muscles and shred calories. Then you'll move to the mat to finish class with core and strength training through bag work and mitt work, which will include punching combinations that will have you feeling lean, sweaty and energized.
I had the opportunity to take the Bags class, get into my review below!

On the floor, we do intervals that include burpees, planks, mountain climbers, jumping jacks and leg raises. What stood out the most the trainers ability to modify all the workouts. The workouts are designed for all levels.

Studio Vibe
The studio itself has a very zen feel and there is a lot of positivity from the trainers to the sayings on the wall. The music is controlled by the trainer, so depending on your taste it may be a hit or miss.
Who to Bring?
Your friend who always wanted to take a boxing class, but was scared.
Would You Double Tap That?
Yep, when I’m back in town. But I think I’ll try the Bags and Bikes class next time.
