Tone It Up: Pure Barre
Being a former bunhead, I always love a good visit to the barre. Last week, I was invited in to Pure Barre in Germantown, TN to check out a few updates the studio has made. I still consider myself new to Memphis, so I had no idea that Pure Barre has been apart of the fitness community for nine years. The studio’s update makes the space is a bit brighter, warmer atmosphere, and a more welcoming space.
Taking class with a few of my favorite Memphis bloggers, like Carmeon of Nubi Interiors and Quaneishia of According to Q, made the experience even more fun. We definitely had some good laughs during class.
Let me just start by saying, Pure Barre is all about the burn... Scroll below for our full review.
Pure Barre Germantown
The Deets
Pure Barre is a full-body workout where you focus on small, isometric movements to tone and lengthen your muscles. The class consists of work in the middle of the floor to warm up and an arm focus using light weights, toning at the ballet barre focused on thighs and glutes, and core-centric mat finisher.
Before I started lifting weights, barre classes was one of my regular go-to workout options and I have to say, I have never gotten so toned so fast.

Gear Needed?
The studio recommends clients wear non-slip socks and you will definitely want to bring a towel and bottle of water.
Studio Vibe
Soft and bright with low music. This is definitely more of a place to unwind.
Who to Bring?
That friend who is effortlessly graceful at all times.
Would You Double Tap That?
Yes, because mixing it up is our motto and this is definitely a different way of moving and toning. As with our feelings on yoga, barre classes can be a little slow for our personal tastes. But, sometimes that is just what you need for balance and we will always take an opportunity for a good stretch.
Finesse Tip
Pure Barre is one of those classes where you may want to give it a few tries before making a final decision on if you like it or not.
