Let's Get Sluttified
Traveling with me comes with a full to-do list. There is usually an itinerary of places to eat, things to do and activities to conquer. This weekend, I headed to Atlanta for my second Spartan Race and there was one eatery that was top of my list to try while in town, Slutty Vegan.
Slutty Vegan has garnered a lot of buzz in a short amount of time. The location has only been open a year and if you visit their Instagram, you’ll see any and all of your favorite ATL celebrities trying out the spot and raving about how good the food is. The food truck aims to provide quality vegan meals to communities that would not normally have the option. They believe vegan food doesn’t have to be bland, but can be a little dirty too. The restaurant uses Impossible and Beyond “burger” patties to create burgers and sandwiches like the Fussy Hussy (loaded with pickle, vegan cheese, caramelized onions, lettuce and tomato), Sloppy Toppy (includes jalapenos), and the Heaux Boy, a vegan take on the shrimp po’ boy.
Located on the historic Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard, the line for Slutty Vegan was wrapped down the block at 9 p.m. We waited in line 45 minutes to make it to the front and order. However, the experience and burger was worth it.
The staff at Slutty Vegan was full of energy and made sure to call out first-timers, or virgins. Once inside, orders moved along fast. My friends and I each ordered the traditional-style Fussy Hussy with fries. The burger was prepared on an open top grill, drenched in Slutty Vegan’s special sauce, and served with crispy, crinkle-cut fries.
If ever in Atlanta again, I’d definitely double-tap and double back to Slutty Vegan to get a little dirty - all over again. I don’t do F-boys, but the Heaux Boy piqued my interest.
Best,
