Do You Know What Today Is? It’s our Anniversary!
On March 30, 2018, we hit the publish button on our very first post. Now, 365 days, and 102 posts later we are celebrating our one-year blogiversary! Fit with Finesse was created because we wanted to build a wellness community for women of color who unapologetically live their best lives with a carefree attitude, weights in their hands, and a tune in their heart. We celebrated this weekend in Los Angeles with friends by our side and a lot of laughter. The support from our community has us feeling a little overwhelmed and much gratitude.
Thank you to all of our readers, fit friends, and followers. We do this for you, and we’re just getting started! Now let’s get into the celebration!
Two Best Friends, Four Workouts, and a Brunch
Friday: Coffee and Boxing
In true Fit with Finesse style, we started the weekend at an adorable black-owned coffee shop, Hilltop Coffee + Kitchen, a boxing workout at Rumble studio in West Hollywood (studio review coming soon!). Then we hit up one of CaCera’s favorite salad spots, Sweetgreens.
Saturday: Brunch & Burn
It’s the big day! We got the morning started right with a bikini prep workout with Shawnie's coach and trainer at D.T.L.A. Fitness. So we were primed and ready to eat!
We hosted a brunch with 15 of our friends and supporters at Greenleaf Chopshop in the USC Village. The food was healthy and the atmosphere was adorable. It’s always a good time when we get together, and there were plenty of laughs to go around.
After brunch, we headed to a workout hosted by F45 Track, on USC’s campus. F45 has a special place in our hearts because CaCera is a trainer at F45 Germantown in Memphis, and Shawnie is a local member at the F45 in Downtown LA Arts District. It was a sunny LA Day and sizzling outside, and our girls pushed through a tough high-intensity, interval circuit workout. They were still smiling by the end of the day, so we will take that as a win!
Sunday: Strength & Sushi
Because work is never done, we had a fun photo shoot with one of our favorite photographers, Jeff Walters of Chronology Productions. Then we headed to one more studio, The Wall. (Yea, we are a little crazy). The Wall was strength training to the beat of music. Most reps were done in 8- or 16-count repetitions. The studio's vibe was sleek (another review for you to keep your eyes peeled for soon). We ended our weekend in downtown LA for sushi at the Zuma pop-up at Inko Nito (tucked away in LA's Art District). Y'all! Best. Sushi. Ever.
Finally, we took a moment for cheers with drinks and sky views at the Spire 73, located on the 73rd floor in Intercontinental Hotel. It was nice to have a moment to reflect on our accomplishments and lessons learned while spending a little friend time.
What’s Next
We are still inspired and motivated heading into this next year. With much more up our sleeves, we have already turned our attention to a Memphis celebration in May. Of course we will continue to bring you great workouts and our take on everything fitness and wellness related. We are also hoping you will see a lot more of us partnering with the amazing women we highlight as Fit Girl Magic stars.
This first year is largely about every one of you reading this post. So, tell us! What do you want to see in year two? Comment below, or chat with us on IG or Facebook.
Love,
CaCera & Shawnie
