Standing in the Sun

Summer is right around the corner. We are coming out of a ponderosa. And there are plans to be outside…literally.

From outdoor workouts to summer race season, there will be plenty of reasons to enjoy fresh air and warm temperatures this summer as we get back into the swing of things. What we have found ourselves asking repeatedly the past few weeks is what’s the best sunscreen to keep us protected, glowing and our skin healthy against the sun’s harsh rays.

From asking our friends what they are using to reading quite a few reviews, here’s what we’ve found so far.

Black Girl Sunscreen

We don’t know about you, but we hate the white film left on our skin when using sunscreen. We know we are supposed to protect our skin from the sun, but can we at least still look cute in the process? Well, thank goodness for Black Girl Sunscreen (BGS), which was created from a need for a sunscreen brand that caters to women of color. BGS dries completely clear, without the white cast, and dare we say, it even adds a little summertime glow to our melanated skin. We were definitely hooked after our first time using it, and what makes it extra special is that it was founded by a black woman. You can find Black Girl Sunscreen in your local Target and Ulta.

Supergoop Play Everyday

One sunscreen brand we notice all our friends are pulling out of their purse is Supergoop. The thing about this brand is there are so many products to choose from. How do you decipher which is the best for you?

We say keep it simple and go with the Play Everyday product. It’s designed for both face and body, so there’s no need to decipher between multiple products. Supergoop’s formula provides plenty of protection with an SPF of 50.

Fun Fact: A former teacher founded Supergoop, and the company currently donates products to schools in order to help kids stay protected from the sun.
