One Week with Peloton

Peloton is winning big. As more people look for options to stay in shape, put their health first and stay safe while at home, the brand has tapped into something big. They’ve managed to create a community and user experience that keeps people engaged and excited.

There was a point early in the pandemic where things were not looking good for the fitness brand. Their studio was one of the first to have media cover Covid-19 cases among their instructors. Fast action helped Peloton recover and their revenue is expected to double this year. Sales of the Peloton bike and 172% with more than 1 million subscribed to the app.

We aren’t bike owners…yet (Peloton crew, call us)! However, we are fans of the app and use it to supplement our quarantine workouts. If you are looking for ways to switch up your routine or to get back on track, we recommend checking out the app. In fact, you can try it free for two months. Here are a few of our favorites to check out:

CaCera’s Favorites

If you’ve been following my journey, running has been a big part of what is helping me stay sane and functioning. My favorite thing about the Peloton app is the guided runs. The instructors bring the energy and I love picking and choosing according to the playlist previews.

Although I don’t have the bike, there have been a few rides from Peloton’s artist series that I just could not miss. I will sometimes take the live classes using spin bikes at the studio where I work. I have to be honest, I still prefer the SoulCycle “style” of spin. Some things just won’t change.

A nice surprise has been the meditation classes. Heading out for a run and ending with some quiet time using the app for guided breathing and meditation has become my new #SundayFunday favorite.

On my Peloton “bucket list” is to take a spin class led by Tunde Oyeneyin and check out a few of the strength classes. I also cannot wait until the world opens and I can head to New York to take a live class in-studio.

When it comes to fitness classes, I love variety, good music, and a charismatic instructor who will give me a good sweat. The first time I tried a Peloton bike, I loved it and have since added it to my wish list. So imagine my excitement when I found the Peloton app. I really love the app because I can get all the things I love about in-person classes and more despite not having a bike. Most of the instructors are great, but I really love taking Adrian Williams, Jess Sims, and Chelsea Jackson-Roberts classes. Each of them brings something different to the workout, and I love to see people of color doing their thing.

Pelton offers some really great strength classes for all levels. As a "girl who lifts," the workouts were pretty challenging, and I definitely felt it the next day. Inspired by my bestie, CaCera, I've also been getting into running. The tread classes are great for building endurance, and the outdoor runs are also fun. My next goal is to try one of their running programs to see if I can match my beloved blogging partner's energy. The true highlight for me is the meditation sessions. In our last post, we talked about giving back to ourselves. One way I do that is by setting aside 5-10 minutes every morning to practice gratitude and reflection.

As you can see, I've tried many types of workouts in the app, and it's one of the few apps that keeps me coming back.
